Fall is coming, the weather is getting cooler, and I’m pulling out my vintage boots!
The hand-tooled leather, the intricate stitch work, the perfect fit; I love everything about them. Boots are always in style at my house. I live in them in the fall and winter months.
Like so many things, older boots have so much character. They feature high-quality craftsmanship, and you’re unlikely find anyone else with the same pair. They’re just … timeless.
I always check for unique boots when I go to estate sales and thrift stores, which may be why I have over 30 pairs in my collection. (Shhh… Don’t tell my husband!)
Now don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of new boots too. You just have to be careful that you’re getting good quality. When shopping for them, I feel the leather, I look closely at the stitching and I pay attention to trusted brands.
It can take years to break in a pair of boots, but, once
you do, they’re as comfy as a pair of house slippers.
If you’re interested in learning more about vintage boots, or in seeing a wicked collection, check out “The Art of the Boot” by Tyler Beard, Photos by Jim Arndt. And, if you’re in Santa Fe, you should stop by Nathalie, meet Jim’s lovely wife and then pick up some LTJ!
I’d love to see pics of your favorite boots, new or old! Send them my way. 🙂
